Dymatize ISO100 Hydrolyzed Protein Review

Bottom Line
Dymatize ISO100 is one of the best post-workout proteins you can buy. The hydrolyzed formula absorbs fast, the macros are as clean as it gets, and the taste is honestly some of the best in the category. It costs a bit more than standard whey, but if absorption speed matters to you, it is worth it.

What Sets ISO100 Apart

Most whey proteins use concentrate or a blend of concentrate and isolate. ISO100 goes a step further by using hydrolyzed whey protein isolate, which means the protein has been partially broken down into smaller peptides through enzymatic processing. The result is faster digestion and absorption compared to standard whey.

For post-workout nutrition, timing matters. Getting protein to your muscles quickly after training supports recovery, and ISO100 does that better than most. If you work out hard and want your post-workout shake to be doing real work, the hydrolyzed format gives you an edge.

Macros and Ingredients

Each serving delivers 25 grams of protein, around 110 to 120 calories, less than half a gram of fat, and about 2 grams of carbs. That is about as lean as a protein powder gets. There is almost no fat, almost no carbs, and nothing wasted. The protein efficiency here is excellent.

ISO100 is also gluten free and soy free, which makes it accessible for people with those sensitivities. It is not dairy free since it is still derived from whey, but for lactose sensitivity specifically, isolates and hydrolyzed forms are generally much better tolerated than concentrates.

Taste and Mixability

This is where Dymatize really earns its reputation. The flavor quality on ISO100 is genuinely impressive. Fruity Pebbles is the flavor that gets talked about the most and for good reason. It actually tastes like the cereal. Birthday Cake and Cinnamon Bun are both solid if you want something dessert-forward. The chocolate options are good, though I think Gold Standard edges them out slightly on chocolate specifically.

Mixability is excellent. It dissolves in water or milk without any effort, no clumping, no foam. The texture is smooth and light, which makes sense given it is a hydrolyzed isolate. Some people find that hydrolyzed proteins have a slightly bitter aftertaste, but I have not noticed that much with ISO100.

How It Fits Into a Real Routine

I think of ISO100 as a post-workout protein first and a general-purpose shake second. The fast absorption is most valuable in that immediate post-training window. If you are just looking for a protein shake to have with breakfast or between meals, you are paying a premium for a feature you may not be getting full value from at those times.

That said, if you want to simplify your life and use one protein for everything, ISO100 is absolutely good enough across all use cases. The clean macros work any time of day.

Value Compared to Standard Whey

ISO100 costs a bit more per serving than something like Gold Standard Whey. Whether that premium is worth it depends on your goals. If post-workout absorption speed is a priority, the extra cost makes sense. If you are primarily using protein to hit daily targets and recovery speed is not your main concern, Gold Standard delivers similar results at a lower price point.

What I Like
  • Hydrolyzed formula absorbs faster than standard whey
  • Exceptional taste across flavors
  • Extremely clean macros, almost zero fat and carbs
  • Gluten free and soy free
  • Mixes perfectly every time
  • Third-party tested
Worth Knowing
  • More expensive than standard whey
  • Still dairy-based, not for vegans
  • Hydrolyzed advantage mainly matters post-workout
  • Some flavors use artificial sweeteners

Who This Is For

ISO100 is a great fit for people who train hard and want to maximize post-workout recovery. It is also ideal for anyone who wants an extremely lean protein source with minimal fat and carbs. If you are in a cutting phase or tracking macros tightly, the nutritional profile here is hard to beat.

My Final Take

Dymatize ISO100 is a legitimately excellent protein powder. The hydrolyzed formula, the taste, and the macro profile all put it near the top of the category. If you have the budget for it, especially for post-workout use, I think it is worth the extra spend. The flavors alone make it one of the most enjoyable proteins to drink consistently.
